The TSPS was founded in 1953 by nine plastic surgeons in Texas.  
This meeting set in motion the creation of what is now one of the largest plastic surgery societies in the country.


The Mission of TSPS is to:

To benefit humanity by advancing the art and science of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
To promote the highest standards of professional skills and competence among plastic surgeons.
To promote the exchange of surgical, scientific, and socioeconomic information among plastic surgeons and other physicians by discussions, meetings, publications, and electronic dissemination.
To promote the highest standards of personal and professional conduct among plastic surgeons.
To provide the public with information about the scientific progress in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
To function as a patient advocate in state and national legislative policy matters.
To monitor medical/legal changes which impact the practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the state and national levels.
